Good premenitions:
1 We great each other as good neighbors.
2 We welcome new neighbors
3 We organize activities to meet
4 We keep our courtyard, clean, intact and bright
5 We pay attention to each others playing kids
People make the city.
The ‘opzoomeren’ initiative (named after Opzoomerstraat, the street that initiated the project) encourages local competition: each of the1800 participating streets can earn a star for keeping the environment clean, safe and welcoming. Each street has made its own plaque with rules. Some people consider this scheme to be a monument to the activism of the 1980s, when society seemed ‘makeable’.
