Zafer Adsalmis (age 24) started the Osmanli diner at Katendrechtse Lagekade in May 2010. He studied Banking and Insurance, worked a a bank for three years and found it boring. Now sells Turkish pizza, döner kebab, French fries and salad. ‘The local government wants to help entrepeneurs by subsidizing investment. They can keep their money. I want them to be less bureaucratic. If we could open a terrace, that would be really good for business, but the rules forbid that.’ His younger brother Mehmet (age 22) studied accountancy. He helps out today. Mehmet has his own supermarket, not far from here. Their uncle is a business man. Their father came to the Netherlands in 1985 and has worked in factories until last year, when the factory closed and he lost his job.
