Ramallah -
It is a new trend (I would say after year 2000) to see olive trees--some are more than 2000 years old and hence known as Roman olive trees--decorating roundabouts of Palestine or Israeli towns and settlements. I can safely add that this trend started in Israel and replicated by Palestinians as reclaiming the tree from the colonial discourse. Yet, using same colonial tools to resist colonialism leads to further destruction of the endogenous landscapes!
